Climate Change Days at the EU InfoCentre

In prospect of the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit 2009, the EU Mission will organise a series of events related to the EU’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the action for adapting European policies to the realities of climate change.

The aim is to raise awareness of the human impact on the climate, to inform about new approaches to reducing greenhouse emissions and to call for joint action to combat climate change. Moreover, the aim is to encourage further national discussion on climate change issues and necessary actions.

In the period 3-13 November, visitors to the EU InfoCentre will have the opportunity to see the exhibition “Energy – what is the choice for the future” by the famous French photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand. The exhibition is organised in collaboration with the French Cultural Centre.

On 3 November, a lecture on climate change and a workshop for elementary school students will take place. During the workshop, students will produce messages that will be exhibited on a special exhibiting stand made in the form of a windmill. In addition, documentaries from the Audio Visual Service related to climate change issues will be screened.

On 6 November, the lecture “Facing the global climate challenge – the EU’s role and local perspectives” will be organised for university students.

On 12 November, the EU InfoCentre will organise a Panel discussion “In prospect of the Copenhagen climate change summit 2009”, bringing together activists and experts with experience and knowledge about the environment and the climate change.
