Climate Change Days: Promotion of books organised

On Friday, 13 November, the books “Hunger, the car, wheat and us", by Fabrice Nicolino and "Genetically modified organisms that change the world” by Professor Zil-Erik Seralini have been promoted at the EU InfoCentre, as a part of the Climate Change Days. Furthermore, the EU InfoCentre presented translation of the EU brochure "Combating climate change – the EU leads the way" into local languages.

The promotion has been organised in close cooperation with the French Centre for Cooperation “Jean Monnet” - Skopje and the Publishing House "Magor".

The Advisor for culture and cooperation at the French Embassy, Johann UHRES delivered introductory word on the Earth, climate change and energy sources. He also presented the book “Hunger, the car, wheat and us" related to the bio-fuel.

Patrick PAQUET, Head of Political and Information Section presented the EU publication “Combating Climate Change”. The brochure gives an overview of the EU integrated energy and climate change policy, its commitment to cut emissions of 'greenhouse' gases and a promise to take the lead in international negotiations to adopt even more ambitious targets, defined to prevent the world's temperatures rising by more than 2˚C, the level which is increasingly thought by scientists to be the point of no return.

Professor Zoran POPOVSKI, from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences promoted the book on genetically modified organisms.

The Director of the Publishing House “Magor” Pavlina ADZI MITREVSKA LAZAREVSKA spoke on their activities in the area of ecology and their publications.

A screening of the movie “Home” by the famous author Yann Arthus-Bertrand and the producer, Luc Besson has followed the promotion.

An exhibition of photographs by Yann Arthus-Bertrand is displayed at the EU InfoCentre.
