The EU Delegation supports a strong network of EU info relays which offer variety of services including free EU related publications, free access to the Europa websites as well as answering information queries and organisation of EU related events.

EU Info Points

The Delegation of the European Union in 2003 set up a network of EU Info Points, which are located in numerous cities throughout the country.

Seven EU Info Points were opened within the Citizens' Information Centres in the municipalities of Bitola, Gostivar, Kavadarci, Kocani, Kumanovo, Tetovo and Veles. On the occasion of celebration of the Europe Day 2009 new EU Info Point was opened at the National and University Library “St. Kliment Ohridski”. In 2013 the Delegation opened 5 more EU Info Points in Ohrid, Debar, Strumica, Gevgelija and Kriva Palanka.

Their main objective is to be a place where citizens can learn about the functioning of the European Union, its institutions, policies and programmes as well as about the development of the relations between the EU and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

The Info Points offer free access to publications related to the EU, free access to the Europa websites as well as a chance to participate in meetings or events where EU related topics of interest for the citizens are discussed.

The EU Info points’ specific activities are:
  • Organisation of educational activities (meetings with pupils, discussions on certain topics in the centers/schools, possibilities for scholarships, etc.)
  • Organisation of debates, round tables with representatives from EU Member States, representatives from the candidate-countries, experts from the country
  • Establishment of cooperation with the citizens, NGO-s, institutions, private sector, etc., through provision of access to EU-related information (Internet access, Database, e-mail, meetings)
  • Establishment of contacts and exchange of experiences with the Information points/centers from other countries aspiring to the EU
  • Cooperation with the local media for provision of correct information about the EU Delegation in Skopje, and the activities implemented in the country by the EU Member States.

EUi-s

The first European Documentation Centre (EDC) was officially opened at the Faculty of Economics within the University Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje in 1995. Lately the EDC was renamed and rebranded in EUi. In 2009 2 new EUi-s were opened at the Faculty of Administration and management of information systems in Bitola and at the South East European University in Tetovo.

The EUis are part of the worldwide net of European Information Centres.

The EUis are open to all the public of the country and the broader region. They provide services for the academic public, governmental bodies and institutions, non-governmental organizations, enterprises and other interested groups. Their resources include more than 1,500 publications and more than 10,000 volumes published by the European Commission, European Council, European Parliament and other EU institutions and organizations. The publications are electronically processed to create a database searchable by various criteria. The EUis also provides on-line and off-line services for all its users. They have a separate CD-Rom collection of legal EU documentation, statistical reference data and general information.

The main activities of the EUis are:
  • Promotion and dissemination of information and documentation from and about the EU,
  • Provision of information to the visitors (mainly, from the University campus),
  • Support to academic and professional researchers,
  • Co-operation and exchange of information with other EU relays

The EUis are open every work day, from 07:00 to 15:00(Skopje), 09:00 to 17:00 (Bitola), 08:00 to 16:00 (Tetovo).

All documents and publications are free to access, but cannot be removed from EUis premises.
