Documentary movies at EU InfoCentre

EU InfoCentre in cooperation with the Festival of creative documentary film series MakeDox begins screenings of documentary movies on a specific theme followed by discussions. The program started on 10 March 2017 by showing the documentary "Waste Land" from the author Lucy Walker.

"Waste Land" is a film about the Brazilian photographer Vik Muniz, through which we get to know the life of members of some of the poorest and most marginalized communities. Recorded during almost three years, the film "Waste Land" (UK / Brazil, 2010, 98 min.) from the author Lucy Walker follows the well-known photographer Vik Muniz during his work on the world's largest landfill "Jardim Gramacho" located on the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro. There he photographs an eclectic group of catadores - self-proclaimed collectors of recyclable materials. Muniz has an initial idea to "paint" the catadores using only garbage. The film observes the transforming power of art and the alchemy of the human spirit.

After the screening of the movie the guests had an opportunity to talk about the meaning of the movie in a casual atmosphere at the EU InfoCentre in Skopje.
