The first European Documentation
Centre (EDC) was officially opened at the Faculty of Economics
within the University Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje in 1995.
Recently the EDC was renamed and rebranded in EUi. In 2009 two
new EUi(s) were opened at the Faculty of Administration and
management of information systems in Bitola and at the South
East European University in Tetovo.
The EUi(s) are part of the worldwide net of European Information
Centres.
The EUi(s) are open to all the public of the country and the
broader region. They provide services for the academic public,
governmental bodies and institutions, non-governmental
organizations, enterprises and other interested groups.
Their resources include more than 1,500 publications and more
than 10,000 volumes published by the European Commission,
European Council, European Parliament and other EU institutions
and organizations.
The publications are electronically processed to create a
database searchable by various criteria. The EUi(s) also
provides on-line and off-line services for all its users. They
have a separate CD-Rom collection of legal EU documentation,
statistical reference data and general information.
The main activities of the EUi(s) are as follows:
- Promotion and dissemination of information and documentation
from and about the EU,
- Provision of information to the visitors (mainly, from the
University campus),
- Support to academic and professional researchers,
- Co-operation and exchange of information with other EU relays
The EUi(s) are open every working day, from 07:00 to
15:00(Skopje), 09:00 to 17:00 (Bitola), 08:00 to 16:00 (Tetovo).
All documents and publications are free to access, but cannot
be removed from EUi(s) premises.
